NYA: I AM STILL ADJUSTING TO LIFE AT UNITED

Nigerian central defender Denis Nya has made an instant impact at his new base since signing a two-year contract with ZESCO United.

The 26-year-old former Akwa United player has so far played in all three matches following his move from Nigeria to Zambia.

“I am very excited to be part of ZESCO United. This is a big club in African football as such it gives me enough confidence knowing that I am part of a big team. This is a different league from the Nigerian Premier League, but they are both tough competitions. I don’t see any difference.”

Nya’s inclusion has brought some stability to Coach George Lwandamina’s backline after making his debut in ZESCO United’s 1-all draw against Prison Leopards, before playing a combative role in the clubs 0-3 demolition of Red Arrows and in a barren draw with Nkwazi.

ZESCO United have conceded only once in the last three matches that the Nigerian has been in defense.

It was wonderful to play in the first game against Prison Leopards. I think it has been easy to adjust to life here because this is an English-speaking country and the guys have been very good to me. I am still learning a few things,” he said.

Meanwhile Nya is keen to help ZESCO United rekindle its glory days: “I know ZESCO United is a club that always wants to play continental football. I am working hard to try and help the team to get out of its current position.”

ZESCO United will this coming weekend face Lumwana Radiants in the MTN Super League week 21 fixture to be staged in Solwezi.
