LEKU, KIZITO AIM TO SHINE

Last month, ZESCO United announced the signing of Ugandan attacking Midfielder Kezironi Kizito and striker Alfred Leku as part of the club’s quest to strengthen the squad for the coming season.

The Ugandan duo will be hoping to make an impact at a club whose ambitions this year hinges on winning the league title and competing competitively in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Unlike Leku, Kizito is not new to the City of Ndola and the Zambian game having spent a season at Buildcon football club before crossing over to United.

“The guys have been very welcoming and friendly. It is a new place but am familiar with most of the guys because we played against each other in the Super League during my days at Buildcon.

“I am adapting very well, and competition is high because all the players here are technically gifted. Preseason has been intense as expected. I can’t wait to compete with every team when the league starts.”

Largely seen as a replacement for retired ZESCO United striker and now physical trainer (Winston Kalengo), Leku is aiming to fight for first place in the team.

“I would like to thank God for this wonderful opportunity. I am incredibly happy to have secured this move because this is one of the best teams in Africa. It is a dream come for me. I can develop here and get the best out of myself.

“Training is good. The past few weeks have been very good. I am slowly getting there. There is a lot of competition for places because this a big team.”

With the season opening next month, Leku can’t wait to don TeamYaziko colours.” I can’t wait to play for the club and help the team win trophies.”
